Warranty
Generator Warranty Service
Warranty is one of the few concrete differences between buying from an authorized dealer and buying from a general electrician. Here is what it actually changes.
- Generac Authorized Dealer
- Kohler Certified
- We handle claims directly with the manufacturer
- Service records kept on file for your claims
Two warranties, not one
Every standby generator install involves two separate promises, and people routinely conflate them.
The manufacturer's warranty covers the machine — engine, alternator, controller, enclosure. It comes from Generac or Kohler, its terms are theirs, and they decide what is covered. The installer's workmanship warranty covers the work: the electrical, the gas, the transfer switch, the pad. That one is ours.
When a generator fails, the first question is which of those two it falls under. A failed control board is a manufacturer issue. A gas line that was never sized for the unit is not — that is an installation issue, and it is worth knowing the difference before you need to.
What being authorized actually changes
We are a Generac Authorized Dealer and Kohler Certified. In practice that means three things:
- We file the claim, not youWarranty work on those two brands goes through us directly. You are not calling a manufacturer hotline and explaining a fault to someone reading from a script.
- Our technicians completed Generac and Kohler factory trainingThat matters for diagnosis. A misdiagnosed fault gets a claim rejected, and then you are paying for it.
- We can do warranty work on units we did not installIf your original installer has gone quiet or out of business, the warranty does not die with them.
Worth being straight about: warranty approval is the manufacturer's decision, not ours. We can diagnose it properly, document it properly and file it properly — which is most of what determines the outcome — but we cannot guarantee a claim. Anyone who tells you otherwise is overselling.
The thing that decides most claims
Documented service history. Manufacturers require servicing at their specified intervals, and a unit with no maintenance record is the hardest kind of claim to get approved — often the reason a claim is declined outright.
This is the quietly practical argument for a service plan that has nothing to do with the mechanical benefits. Every GenWatch plan includes warranty-compliant servicing with a documented history we keep on file. When a claim comes up, the record already exists.
Current manufacturer terms
We deliberately do not publish specific warranty lengths or coverage lists here. Manufacturer terms vary by model, change over time, and Generac and Kohler both run periodic extended-warranty promotions. A number typed onto a web page and left there is a number that goes stale and misleads somebody.
Ask us when we quote and we will tell you exactly what applies to the model you are considering, including any promotion running at the time. Call (346) 420-5744.
Registering your unit
Manufacturer warranties generally require the unit to be registered after installation, and coverage can start from the date of installation or the date of sale depending on the brand. We handle registration as part of commissioning on installs we do. If you bought elsewhere and are not sure whether yours was registered, it is worth checking before you need it — we can help you find out.
