Getting the generator to the pad is often the hardest part of a residential job — narrow side-yard access, fence panels out, tracked equipment on boards to protect the turf.

Positioning a larger residential unit. Bigger homes push past the air-cooled range and into liquid-cooled equipment, which changes both the siting and the gas supply.

A unit mounted on a raised steel platform for flood clearance. A Houston-specific detail that matters on properties with elevation or drainage exposure, and something a standard pad install does not address.

The gas run into a completed install. Sizing this for the unit's demand — not just connecting to whatever is nearest — is the difference between a generator that carries its load and one that struggles under it.

An air-cooled Generac set on a raised steel platform rather than a slab. Worth doing on properties with elevation or drainage exposure — a standard pad install puts the controls and the alternator at ground level, which is exactly where you do not want them in a flood event.

Automatic transfer switches

Transfer switches wired out with the doors open. The switch is what actually separates the building from the grid when the generator runs — it is a safety device as much as a convenience one.
